Meet Jude, the Mum behind the magic!
Lauren's Cows is now in it's fifth year and I have great fun being the face of the business painting my cows, but we must not forget a certain someone hard at work behind the scenes. As you know Lauren's Cows is a Mother, Daughter partnership and I would be nowhere with out my lovely Mum and business partner, Jude.
I may be the artistic talent and the reason Lauren's Cows first came about, but it is Jude who runs the show, keeps me in line, looks after all you lovely customers and goes above and beyond to make sure Lauren's Cows is in tip top condition. So as it is Mother's Day I would like to dedicate this blog to Mummy Terry, and give her some time in the lime light.

The Belted Galloway
There's a new kid in town, he's black, he's white he's...striped?
There are certain breeds out there that we don't get to see on a daily basis- unless you're very lucky that is. The Belted Galloway is one of these rarer breeds. However, I'm very excited to introduce the latest kid on the block, Dexter, who happens to be a Belted Galloway Calf. To mark this event I thought it would be nice if we all learned a bit more about our strikingly striped, monochrome friends! So what is it about the Belted Galloway that we all love so much?

Somebody Love's Moo!

Whether you like it or not Valentine's Day is fast approaching! I've never been very lucky in love until I found my husband so I still quite enjoy the novelty of Valentine's, I must admit, however we're not a soppy couple. We don't do the red roses and the candle lit dinners! Our V-day tradition is to make a den out of a couple of brooms, a clothes horse and a load of bed sheets, order pizza and watch a classic film- usually the Godfather! That's our idea of romance. So if you're like me, I have a few ideas to make your Valentine's Day a little less smushy and a little more you!

Lauren's top tips for  a cliche free Valentines Day!

Have I gone mad or could this be the best studio ever?
Let me introduce you to what is believed to be, the last Berkeley Statesman in existence! Now I'm no caravan expert, but I know cool when I see it and this is COOL! Now don't get me wrong, I know that this isn't going to be the easiest of vehicles to get down to St. Ive's for a one week getaway but as a studio? This could be fantastic! Welcome to, what I like to call....
It's a New Year and that means New Cows!

2018 is here and I am back in studio! 2017 was a great year for paintings with our highest number of commissions to date. Now a new leaf has been turned and it's time to get back to the drawing board, and this year's Lauren's Cows resolution is to try and focus on rarer cattle breeds. Those lovely animals that don't get the publicity they deserve. So while I stretch, seal and prime my canvases I've started putting together some preliminary sketches for the first painting.

Which leads me to resolution no. 2 - to get some more footage from behind the scenes!
So here we are- the first time lapse of 2018! 10 points if you can guess the breed! And please let me know what other cattle breeds you'd like to see painted this year!

Top Five Cow Encounters
As you know by now, my job is a little peculiar. Although most of my time is spent in the studio painting, I do occasionally pop out into the great outdoors and grab a few photos! After all I do need models! This is a really fun part of what I do. I always say that cows have such individual personalities and when I'm in the field with the cows I can experience these characters first hand. There's been a few moments that have really stuck out along the way, so here they are my big top five....
