A pocket full of birds.
York Open Studios begins this weekend 14th & 15th April and hopefully many of you will be joining me to see the cows at Bar Lane Studios, York. But it's not only me who will be welcoming in York's public, I'm just one of one hundred artists. Today I saw a short video online from fellow York Open Studios exhibitor, Jane Duke. A painter and printer Jane's work is beautiful but there's something that gives her artwork that little extra...

Jane Duke at York Open Studios

It's time once more for York Open Studios!
This wonderful art event is one of my Highlights of the year. It's a fantastic art exhibition that spreads all over York, showcasing some of the top artists in our city. Whether you're an art fan or not, its a great day out! If nothing else you can pinch lots of complimentary biscuits and cups of tea on your way round the trail. But one thing that I'm certain of is that you'll see a huge variety of artwork and get a chance to speak to some really interesting people. Including myself and the cows of course! Join us at Bar Lane Studios York, YO1 6JU for two weekends of fun.
York Open Studios 2018
It's a New Year and that means New Cows!

2018 is here and I am back in studio! 2017 was a great year for paintings with our highest number of commissions to date. Now a new leaf has been turned and it's time to get back to the drawing board, and this year's Lauren's Cows resolution is to try and focus on rarer cattle breeds. Those lovely animals that don't get the publicity they deserve. So while I stretch, seal and prime my canvases I've started putting together some preliminary sketches for the first painting.

Which leads me to resolution no. 2 - to get some more footage from behind the scenes!
So here we are- the first time lapse of 2018! 10 points if you can guess the breed! And please let me know what other cattle breeds you'd like to see painted this year!
