I am thrilled to finally have a Charolais cow join the Lauren's Cows herd! I am constantly asked for certain breeds of cattle and the Charolais has to be one of the most requested, so it gives me great joy to welcome Ivory to our gallery.
Now, I'll be completely honest with you. This painting took me a long time to get into. I knew what I wanted to achieve, but I was finding it hard to get into a rhythm. I wanted so desperately to paint a beautiful Charolais for all those who have asked me for one but just couldn't connect to the painting. However I kept working at it, adding colour and tone, piece by piece. Then one day I walked into the studio, turned to my easel, and this beautiful face was looking back at me! I was seeing her as a whole for the first time, seeing her as a Cow rather than a painting. She actually stopped me in my tracks!
I spent many hours fixating on this painting in progress waiting to feel something, and now I spend all my time gazing at her as if I've known her my entire life.
I just hope that I've done the breed proud!
