There is something very special about Jersey Cows. For the last seven years I have spent more and more time with cattle. Over that time I have learned the traits and characteristics of many different breeds and I think it's fair to say that the Jersey wins the award for the prettiest cow.

Jersey Cattle are known for their doughy, Bambi like eyes and beautiful long eyelashes and Melody is a perfect example of that.

I love to play with colour when painting and this is most obvious in my original acrylic paintings. The cool teal background of this art piece reflects the serenity and calming nature of Jersey cattle and draws out the stunning pinks, purples and golds of her silky coat.

I many long hours on this painting as I needed to make sure that I captured her almost shy yet inquisitive expression just right whilst encapsulating the sheen of light reflecting off her glossy coat. Hopefully you'll agree she was worth the wait!
