Meet Archie the latest Highland Cow to join the Lauren's Cows herd. I was asked to paint Archie last summer when I appeared on BBC Countryfile's summer special. I revealed the painting to owner and presenter Adam Henson while exhibiting at BBC Countryfile Live. I first met Archie in the flesh at the painting reveal and so was very eager to see if I'd captured both his personality and physicality. I'm glad to report that I did and the painting went down well with everyone there especially Adam who was over the moon with the surprise portrait.
Adolescent bulls are great to paint as you start to see the first glimpses of the magnificent beast that they will soon become .
Full of colour on a rich teal background this Highland Bull has lots of life as well as a great back story.
